Seeing Some Improvement

Praise the Lord! We are starting to see some improvement!!!!

Though I still have rough days, we are starting to see an overall pattern of improvement. In the last week I've had:
2 yucky days (on the couch, but not horrid),
3 decent days (some waves of sickness, but feeling functional), and
2 great days (up and about, fixing lunch, tiding the house a little, tired, but CHIPPER).
Today is the second day of the last week that I've had Addie all by myself and I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be mommy again, even if only on some days. Today has been the best day so far, especially because we were able to go out in the sunshine and play and chat with the neighbors. I move slow, get tired, and sit a lot, but it feels sooooo good to not be sick all the time.

I can only guess what's ahead, but judging on the last pregnancy, I am starting to think that this is probably what it will be like until the end (some good days, some harder, with continuing times of nausea, just not constant). Only time will tell. I am hoping I'll regain at least a little energy and strength from this point so I can begin to take care of the house a little. I don't know if I'll be able to cook again for a long time (that seems like a far-off challenge right now). Anyway, we are encouraged by the improvement and hope it continues!

Week 16 Rollercoaster

Well, we've made it to week 16! It has been a week of big ups and downs. My belly has really popped out, which was fun.... we'll call that an up. Then came Tuesday. Tuesday was the worst day I have had to date. I was incredibly sick without stop all day and had a headache to boot. I can't even describe how this sick was worse than regular sick, but oh boy, it was.

Then yesterday, Wednesday, the exact opposite happened! I had the BEST day yet. I just didn't feel sick all day. It was amazing! (Well, a little bit in the afternoon and evening, but it was so little, it barely counts). I tidied up our bedroom, washed a few dishes, made myself some lunch (Addie was with our friends the Bruyninckx family that day). I was on cloud nine! I took it slow and was careful not to do too much, but I even got to sit outside with the sunshine on my face for awhile. Let me tell all you "well" people not to take that for granted- that is a wonderful feeling. Then, last night, I got to feel the baby moving. What fun! I've felt little movements over the last few days, but wasn't sure of them. Last night I was sure it was the baby. What a treat.

I'm not sure what to expect after yesterday. Was it just a good day and will stand alone? Is it the beginning of improvement? Of course, I hope the latter, but I'm trying to be ready for either. Today I do feel queasy, but just a little, and for now I am feeling pretty functional. I even changed a poopy diaper this morning.

Hopefully there will be more good news to post in the future!

15 Weeks

After our last doctor's visit, I've decided to count my weekly progress by Sundays instead of Wednesdays now, it's more in line with what the doctor says now. So yeah! I've hit 15 weeks!

I don't feel any better yet. This last week has been pretty long, with hardly any breaks. Two weeks ago I thought I was making progress, and now it doesn't really feel that way. Especially since I just had to stop typing to dry heave for awhile. Yuck. The only progress we are seeing is that I am starting to show. A little evidence that all this sick is getting me somewhere is nice.

Addie has been doing pretty well lately. I have especially enjoyed seeing her compassion show itself. When she sees me dry heave, she always says "Mommy, I am SO sorry." I love it because she says it spontaneously, not because she's been told to. I believe it's what I've said most often to her when her tummy hurts from reflux. My favorite moment came Saturday when I had a rotten headache. I rolled over to face the back of the couch and felt this little hand come over and start rubbing my back. It was the sweetest thing ever.

Sorry for the lack of pictures on the blog these days. We haven't been taking very many lately and the few we have taken are on our desktop and Greg would have to upload them. His time is otherwise occupied these days with runs to the store, keeping us in clean laundry, and getting the dishes washed (among other things). Hopefully we'll be back to normal one day and posting pictures again!

Same 'ol, Same 'ol

I haven't updated recently because everything is pretty much the same. This week has been a bit tougher since I haven't gotten any breaks up until now, but maybe today will be better! We saw the doctor yesterday and all seems fine. I have gained weight (yeah!) and am now back to what I weighed when I got pregnant. We got to have a quick ultrasound yesterday because the doctor had a hard time finding our kiddo in the womb with the heart beat monitor. Once we saw him on the ultrasound we heard the heartbeat going strong, which was a relief, and did another gender check. Still appears to be a boy, although not as clear a shot as last time. I am at 14 weeks along now, so we're making progress!
