A good baby check up

We just got back from the pediatrician, and we got the new stats on our daughter. She is quite a bit heavier than her birth weight, and that is a good thing.

She weighed 6lbs, 13.5 oz at birth. and is now 7lbs, 5 oz. She is also 1/4" longer now than when first born, at 20 3/4".

If Gracie had thumbs

Our cat gracie is, ostensibley, our own CPS monitor. If he had thumbs, we are sure the he would call us in for bieng bad parents every time she cries. In the above photo, Gracie hovers over Addie, and looks plaintively at Niki to make her stop.

Christmas Eve Service @ PBC

We took Addie to church for our Christmas Eve Service. It has been a couple of weeks since we had been to church, so to catch up with everyone and show off our daughter was a really nice time.

Our Christmas at home

This Christmas season, we didn't travel to see family. It was a somewhat quiet and subdued morning, occasionally punctuated by the blessed sounds of a baby waking. I made a pancake breakfast with bacon, orange juice, eggnog and some cherry turn-overs form the Kropfs. After that, we opened our stockings and presents for each other.

Our homecoming and the In-Laws

Here we are coming home to the apartment from the hospital. Niki's family has been with us for over a week at this point. Once home, the serious business of spoiling Addie could begin.

And I thought the FRUITS and NUTS were bad.

When I wrapped Addie in a yellow blanket yesterday, I thought she looked like a banana. With the hat, she looks more like a squash.

...and baby makes three.

One of our friends, Amy, made us christmas stockings last year. This year, with leftovers, she make one for Addie. It is a beautiful picture if what our daughter is to us, a little of both.

Addie the Jealous

Just a quick little anecdote...

We think that Addie is a little, well, a LOT taken on daddy. She is as the pediatrician said, " a daddy's girl." The doctor then said. "That's Ok, daddies buy the cars."

Anyhow, Addie doesn't like any of my affection directed anywhere else or so it seems. When I returned to the apartment after running errands for a couple of hours, I went to kiss Niki, who was laying on the couch. Addie, lying in the bassinett a couple of feet away, sensed impending PDA. No sooner had our lips met, then Addie deposited the loudest, liquified-sounding substance into her diaper.

Our reaction was that of great laughter, as it seemed the Addie availed herself of the opportinuty to disrupt a would-be romantic moment.

Adelyn Grace Photo Spread

A small selection of Addie's better moments over the first 48 hours. There will be LOTS more pictures coming up soon.

Happy birthday Addie!

I am posting some of the many pictures of our daughter Adelyn Grace. Addie was born on Thursday, December 15th, 2005 at 2:13pm. She was 6lbs, 13oz and was 20 1/2'" long.

Niki was admitted on Wednesday afternoon to be induced, since she was overdue by three days. We waited all night as Niki progressed as necesary for labor.

Niki started labor around 12:30pm and a little over 2 hours later, Adelyn was born. Addie's first cries were so very cute as she was attended to by the nurses.

I have many. many more pictures to post, so check back as there is lots going on and I have a huge backlog of stories to show and tell.
