Another highlight of the day was the chance to release a Monarch into the air. Each kid was given an envelope with a live butterfly in it, and in unison we opened them together and released hundreds of butterflies into the air

I had the exact same idea for my niece after looking at all the monarchs at the Arboretum today, and wondering how exactly to structure the wings. I was so excited to find your post! I was thinking of making appliques for the black, but paint is a waaaay more feasible, and less heavy, idea. Thanks so much for sharing this!
